Portraits – Ocean View Park, Santa Cruz

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

This kid was so much fun to work with!

We started at the lower playground at Ocean View Park, which overlooks downtown Santa Cruz, CA.

He asked if we could do a couple of photos of his dinosaur persona, so I decided to do one of him in this prehistoric setting.

And then we did another raptor photo in this slightly less prehistoric setting.

I let him take a few pictures of me.

I got to do a really fun family portrait shoot in a park overlooking Santa Cruz, CA. Here are a few of the photos that I loved.

Shot these for the Bike Saviours, a bicycle cooperative in Tempe, AZ. I’ve seen them grow exponentially through the years and haven’t volunteered there nearly as much as I could and should have, and I hope that shooting their 2010 benefit calendar has helped balance that out somehow. They were always there for me when I needed bike help in college. To order one of the first printing of 100 calendars, contact heatherlhoch@gmail.com – they’re only $15, and they’re going fast!

I’m finishing up some pretty significant changes to the blog – welcome to version 4! Comments are allowed again, and the new platform should allow me to put up some more thorough stories of weddings, commercial shoots, and my travels. I have decided to re-enable comments, and I invite anyone who reads this to drop me a line with feedback and critique. I’ve archived the posts that were here before, as part of my previous blog, but I’ll be adding a few of them with back-dates to this version.

I should also point out my new watermark – this, and a couple of other logos, will be popping up around the main site shortly. I had the pleasure of photographing Nidhi and Nick’s wedding earlier this year in Atherton, and was compensated for photography, in part, with some handmade logos by Nidhi, the bride. Please check out more of her work at http://www.e-nidhi.com if you have a minute.
