Wedding – Marisa and Mike – Dawn Ranch Lodge – Guerneville Wedding Photographer

Written by Morgan Bellinger on August 18th, 2010

I arrived early - Marisa had said that some of the wedding party would be doing yoga in the morning, and I wanted a distant shot under the trees.

This turned out to be another dog wedding - the seemed to love the scenic location, and the guests loved their energy.

The wedding was held at a gorgeous resort in Guerneville, CA.

After wedding day yoga, Marisa got ready in one of the many rooms at the resort, and I had a little time to explore.

I shoot a lot during bridal preparations - I'm always looking for a new angle and for the best way to communicate the feel of the wedding.

Marisa and Mike were married on August 7, 2010 at Dawn Ranch Lodge in Guerneville, CA.

I met Marisa and Mike at a bridal fair almost a year ago, and we did an engagement shoot in Jack London Square in Oakland.

This young man helped get the fans ready for the ceremony before changing into his suit.

The dress.

A friend of the bride who couldn't attend the wedding made her a hairpiece - a really nice touch.

This is Mike.

A close friend of Mike's was playing guitar just outside the room. I shot out there a little bit, but liked this one best.

This is Cheyenne, she's quite photogenic.

I can't think of a lovelier place to get ready for a wedding than in a cabin under the redwoods.

The bride's sister, and the bouquet.

I've been trying to stay away from the formula dress shot (at least in my portfolio and blog) and looking more for textures and interesting composition.

Ringbearer and flower girl and best pet.

The father of the bride.

The ceremony was held in a little corner of the orchard at Dawn Ranch Lodge - we were surrounded by fruit trees and everything was green to the horizon.

I love having other photographers at weddings!

This is my favorite shot from the wedding - it's Mike in the middle of his vows.

Vows and rings.

The kiss. The green backdrop for all of their photos was really magnificent - it's such a wonderful site.

We did portraits under the trees! The light streaming through the early afternoon lit up my subjects beautifully.

One of the guests brought a recently ebayed medium format camera - I shot through the viewfinder, then hooked his camera up to my flash for a portrait. I can't wait to see the results on film!

This is the same guest, getting a shot of the dogs during the reception.

She just borrowed the parasol for a moment.

The reception. This is my favorite light.

I snuck back to the ceremony site to grab this in the evening's glow.

The best men at my recent weddings have all been very gregarious.

The man of honor and his toast.

First dance.

The glass of wine silhouette made this shot for me. Dancing is so much fun to photograph!

Guitar lights.

I didn't get to try either of the two cakes, but they looked wonderful.

Marisa and Mike asked for a photo area during the reception. Hilarity ensued.

The reception lights at night.
